Castillo de San Marcos National Monument - The
primary outpost of the Spanish in the New World, the Castillo de San Marcos,
built 1672-1695, served to guard St. Augustine. Ponce De Leon's Fountain of Youth National
Archeological Park - More than just a spring or a well in the ground,
the Fountain of Youth Park contains beautifully maintained grounds and
gardens where visitors can stroll. The park marks the spot where Spanish
explorer Ponce de Leon landed in 1513 and contains many displays and
exhibits. You can even drink from the legendary fountain. Lightner Museum - Relics of America's Gilded Age
are elegantly exhibited on the museum's three floors. Costumes,
furnishings, mechanical musical instruments and other artifacts give you a
glimpse into 19th century daily life. The Lightner collection includes
beautiful examples of cut glass, Victorian art glass and the stained glass
work of Louis Comfort Tiffany. Oldest House - The González-Alvarez House is the
oldest surviving Spanish Colonial dwelling in Florida. Occupied since the
1600's, the home is now two museums, an exhibit gallery, an ornamental
garden, and a museum store. Oldest Wooden Schoolhouse - Built over 200 years
ago, the Oldest Wooden Schoolhouse was originally a homestead belonging to
Juan Genoply. The building became a school after Genoply became married
and the building no longer suited his needs. The downstairs was used as a
one room classroom while the schoolmaster and family lived in the small
