Museums

California Academy of Sciences -- Founded in 1853 as the first scientific institution in the West. Featuring eight scientific research departments, the California Academy of Sciences' mission is to explore and explain the natural world.

The museum includes:
Steinhart Aquarium, where you can sea-life, reptiles, penguins, and more
Natural History Museum, featuring various biological and scientific displays and experiments
Morrison Planetarium, although currently closed for reconstruction until 2008, the domed theater presents a realistic and scientifically accurate view of the night sky.

Fine Arts Museum of San Francisco -- One of the largest art museums in the United States, the Fine Arts Museum of San Francisco comprises the de Young in Golden Gate Park and the Legion of Honor in Lincoln Park.

The Legion of Honor was built to commemorate Californian soldiers who died in WWI. Located in San Francisco's Lincoln Park, the Beaux-arts building overlooks the Pacific Ocean, Golden Gate Bridge, and all of San Francisco.
