Fairmount Park - Fairmount Park was founded in 1855 by the city in
an effort to protect it's water supply. The park is actually a 9200 acre
park system. Perhaps the most famous part of the park is the 25-mile
Schuylkill River Trail which runs from downtown Philadelphia) to Oaks in
Montgomery County, Pennsylvania.
Wissahickon Environmental Center - Pack
a picnic lunch and spend the day exploring the forest, wandering through
the meadows or hiking the trails. This is also a favorite spot for
birders. |
