	Historical The Statue of Liberty Overlooking New York Harbor and standing for a love of freedom and liberty, the statue was presented to the people of the United States by the people of France and first dedicated in 1886. Guided tours of the statue are available. The statue is reached by ferry from either Manhattan or New Jersey. Grant, who was a general and later became President of the United States, the General Grant National Memorial presents costumed interpreters, and exhibits on the General's life.
