Hilton Head Island, SC - Dining |
There are umpteen million choices of restaurants here. Many of the national food chains have restaurants here, as do the resorts. Some of the more popular local favorites are: Old Oyster Factory - Built on the marsh side of the island, this restaurant is housed in what used to be an old oyster cannery. They serve primarily seafood, and oysters can be an add-on for just about any entrée.
Old Oyster Factory Salty Dog Café - This very popular restaurant is almost as famous for it’s t-shirts as it is for its food. Legend has it that a dog named Jake washed overboard in the ocean, and found his way home to Hilton Head. Residents were so relieved and impressed they built and named a restaurant after him. The current offspring, Jake III, wanders around the restaurant and is available for pictures.
Salty Dog Café Waterfront Café - Built at the base of the Hilton Head Lighthouse, this upscale restaurant offers water views no matter where you sit. Many celebrities have eaten here, which they are more than happy to tell you. The restaurant is open for Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner, but reservations are recommended for Dinner.
