Beautiful, majestic, magnificent, colorful, breathtaking and gigantic are
just some of the adjectives used to describe this natural wonder. More
than 5 million visitors a year flock to see the mile deep, 250 mile long
crevasse made by the Colorado River. The majority of visitors gather at the South Rim because of the abundance of tourist attractions, facilities, restaurants, and amenities. From here, you can visit the Grand Canyon Village, take a mule ride along the trails to the bottom of the Canyon, stay at one of the rustic hunting lodge inspired hotels, and have access to a plethora of entertainment. From the North Rim, things are much more secluded and serene. However, the North Rim is typically closed from late October through mid-May due to snow and severe weather. Trail opportunities are the big draw here and many visitors make their descent along the North Kaibab Trail and the Bright Angel Trail. |
