Before Walt Disney's passing in 1966, he envisioned an Experimental
Prototype Community Of Tomorrow, a living
showcase for the creativity of American industry. It was to be the City of
the Future where people could live in harmony with commerce and industry. Although Disney didn't live to see his vision come to life as he had originally designed it, I think that Walt would have been proud of the Epcot that we have today. Epcot is divided into two unique, and very distinct lands, Future World and the World Showcase. Future World - Comprised of exhibits, rides, and shows featuring the latest technology trends and innovations and is the first area that you enter through the main gates. Spaceship Earth - Epcot's internationally known icon that actually contains a slow moving ride that transports you through the communication time-line. Wonders of Life - A pavilion dedicated to the exploration of the human body and contains the popular attraction Body Wars as well as other shows/exhibits: The Making of Me, and Cranium Command. Mission Space - One of Epcot's newest thrill rides, Mission Space is an interactive adventure that will leave your stomach in queasy knots after you experience a realistic feeling trip to Mars. Test Track - Disney partnered with General Motors (GM) to create this automobile testing ground that guests get to participate in at speeds up to 60 mph as well as other 'extreme' tests. Imagination! - Filled with exhibits that test your senses and includes Journey Into Imagination, with Figment, an imagination-filled ride hosted by the famous little purple and orange dragon, and also the popular Honey I Shrunk the Audience, a hilarious 4-D film that involves all of your senses. The Living Seas - Contains movies, attractions, and a restaurant dedicated to providing entertainment, information, and education about the ocean's and sea life. Also contains the popular animated show Turtle Talk with Crush, where guests get to interact with the lovable character from Finding Nemo. The Land - A once sparsely visited pavilion, The Land recently made a huge comeback with the addition of Soarin', a hang-gliding adventure over scenic California. The Land also contains very informational attractions, Living With the Land, and Circle of Life. Innoventions East & West - Filled with exhibits showcasing the latest discoveries and trends in technology.
World Showcase - If you ever wanted to travel around the world, you can do it all here in an afternoon. Featuring 11 realistic 'countries' hosted by native representatives, this multi-cultural extravaganza is filled with attractions, exhibits, rides, as well some of the best food in the Disney World. The countries represented are: Mexico, Norway, China, Germany, Italy, U.S.A., Japan, Morocco, France, United Kingdom, and Canada. |
