Yosemite National Park - Hotels

Yosemite National Park has many options should you choose to stay overnight, and not all of them involve camping. There are 3 lodges that are quite comfortable and luxurious, as well as tents and cabins. You can camp overnight on your own in one of their designated sites; however you need to obtain a Wilderness Permit.

Inside the Park:

The Ahwahnee—This 123 room hotel is definitely upscale and luxurious. It’s Native American décor is sure to charm, and the views of Half Dome, Yosemite Falls and Glacier Point can be seen anywhere around the property.

Yosemite Lodge at the Falls—Located close to the Falls in the Yosemite Valley, this hotel is a good choice for families. It has 226 rooms and the views are the focal point behind lots of glass.

Wawona Hotel— This Victorian Style hotel is a National Historic Landmark. Most of its 104 rooms come with verandas offering a sweeping view of the meadows. It’s location between Mariposa Grove of Giant Sequoias and Yosemite Valley makes it very popular.

Curry Camp, Housekeeping Camp, Tuolumne Meadows Lodge, White Wolf Lodge, High Sierra Camps—All of these “campgrounds” offer canvas tents on wooden frames and cots. Some have heating and/or bedding. There are a few cabins available as well. With the exception of the cabins, all bathrooms are shared and there is a dining hall.  Call (801) 559-4884 for info.

Campgrounds--Yosemite National Park has several campgrounds where you can bring your own tent or R/V, but you need to check in advance as reservations go extremely fast.

Outside the Park:

Comfort In-Oakhurst—Located 15 minutes outside Yosemite Park this hotel is a cheap, quiet alternative to the other lodges. They do have an outdoor (seasonal) pool, and serve a free continental breakfast every morning, which is great for families.

Heidelburg Inn—This inn was featured in many movies in the 1930s. Its Bavarian architecture is a charming addition to the majestic backdrop of the Sierra Nevada.

Tenaya Lodge at Yosemite—This Craftsman-style lodge boasts 224 rooms and both an indoor and outdoor pool. It’s ranked very highly and one look into its upscale rooms, you can see why.
