He started building in 1928 only to turn around and sell it in 1931 to the Tovrea’s. The family kept it as their winter home until the death of Mrs. Tovrea in 1969. It sat in disrepair until the city finished purchasing it in 2003, and are trying to restore the cactus gardens to their original former glory.

One of five houses they owned, this was the smallest and only used during the winter months. It is currently being operated as a private club (for a small yearly fee) and public tours are available. Their dining room also serves a scrumptious Sunday brunch.
