Farmer’s Market
Started in 1934 as a simple open-air farmer’s market, this establishment
has grown to huge proportions and remains a “must-see” institution in
Los Angeles. There are now over 100 shops and restaurants, include some
name brands as Bath & Body Works and Children’s Place. The restaurants
are as varied as the citizens living in LA. You can find anything from
BBQ and Pizza to Korean, Mexican or French to name a few. Also to add a
little more zest (and increase sales too), the Market offers about 4-6
seasonal events to satisfy all tastes.

La Brea Tar Pits
Reminiscent of the movie “Ice Age” this site is home to over 3million
recovered fossils to date. Visit Pit 91 and watch the paleontologists
excavate fossils from extinct animals such as the saber toothed tiger
and the mammoth. Then follow the process further at the Page Museum,
where the fossils are then cleaned, identified and stored. As you take
the self-guided tour you will watch a 10minute DVD on the history, and
you’ll also be able to see many life-sized replicas of these ancient
mammals along the way.

Olvera Street
This Street is so famous it has its own website! The main attraction on
this street is the El Pueblo Historic Monument, which is actually a
conglomeration of 27 historic sites. Definitely a great way to get a lot
accomplished without a lot of driving around! There are a lot of free
tours that you can take to get an accurate synopsis of what you are
viewing. You can shop for authentic Mexican souvenirs, eat at one of the
charming open-air café’s or take in the outdoor entertainment on the
weekends (usually Mariachi’s or an Aztec Indian native dance type
venue).
